The positives and negatives about South Central today is that South Central was kind of bad there were lots of riots , gangs, drugs, ect. but a positive thing about South Central is that it has changed the crime raits have decresed. The three events that took place in south central thats havehad the greatest impact are the watts riots, la riots and immigration.

The first event that had a great impact on making South Central what it is today is the Watts Riots. The watts roits took place in 116th st and Avalon in the year 1965. It started on a hot day when a police man pulled over Marquette Frye for becouse a resident called the police about him recklessly driving. When they were arresting Marquette it turned into a argument. The police arrested Marquette, his mom, and his brother. The poeple got mad and thats when the watts riots began. The next day they had a meeting in Athens Park. A tenneager steped to the stand and made a speech thats they were ganng burn down white peoples houses the media was there and just showed the teenagers speech not the peace speech every one was talking about thats when ”white flight” accored. At the end there were 34 people died and the watts riots ended when the natonal guard came.

The secound event that had a great impact on making South Central what it is today is the LA riots. The LA riots started in Florence and Normandie. The main reason that the LA riots started was becouse of the beating of rodney king, police brutality, the murner of Latashe Harlins, unemployedment, and high crime rate. The beating of Rodney King was when some police men stared beating him for no reason. They beat King for about 15 minutes they even lest him brain bammige. The they took it to court they foung the police not guilty. That made the people mad and the riots began. They also ened when tha National Guard came.

The third event thats had a great impact on making South Central what it is today is immigration. Lots of latinos immagrate to the united states for many reasons. Some for the money some to have a better life and others becouse of war in there state. The movie immocent voices is a good example for why people immagrate to the u.s. The war in El Salvador was a 24 hour thing. The real sad part is that they got 12 yearolds to fight in the arny. The kids and mothere where scared the they maight take them to war and that was it for them they will never see them again.

The reasons why i picked this three events its beacouse you can tell that the police used to abbuse the poeple here. The had to big riots and got waht they wanted they had it bad there had low jobs the people couldnt get money so they rioted and got what they wanted. For immigration lost of poeple dont see why we immagra to the u.s.
